Since 1899, the Monroe City Public Library has been at the heart of our community, welcoming generations of readers, learners, and neighbors through its doors. For more than a century, our mission has remained the same: to provide a welcoming space where everyone can discover, learn, connect, and leave feeling inspired.

Whether you're looking for your next great read, a quiet place to study, reliable internet access, or a fun family activity, we're here for you. We offer free public computers with internet access, free Wi-Fi, and a collection of more than 10,000 books, DVDs, audiobooks, and other materials to educate, entertain, and inspire.

The library is much more than books. We proudly offer story times, summer reading programs, book discussion groups, educational resources, digital book downloads, and research tools that make learning accessible for all ages. Our comfortable reading areas provide the perfect place to relax and our meeting room offers space for local organizations, businesses, and community groups to gather.

At its heart, a library is about people. It's the children discovering the joy of reading, the students pursuing their goals, the lifelong learners exploring new interests, and the neighbors who stop by simply to say hello.
